We'll Probably Get to See a Ford Compact Pickup By 2022

Ford is planning a new compact pickup to hit the market in 2022.

According to Automobile Magazine, Ford is planning a version of a compact pickup truck based on the Ford Fiesta, modeled after the little-known Ford Courier.

It would sit below the 2019 Ranger, a midsize that is going to be reintroduced to the market in 2019.

The automaker has remained mum, offering no details on specifications.

"While we don't comment on speculation about future products, we are significantly expanding our North America lineup with all-new vehicles and entering new segments with fresh designs and white space silhouettes that will position us for even more growth," said Mike Levine, Ford spokesperson.

All signs point to the new pick up being built at its Mexico assembly plant, which is also the home of Fiesta production and a new 2020 Focus crossover.
