VW Recalls 2018 Golf and Golf SportWagen for Rollaway Risk

Another recall ha been issued, this time for newer models of the VW Golf.

German automaker Volkswagen has recalled approximately 33,000 2015-2018 model year Golf and Golf SportWagen vehicles due to a rollaway hazard.

The issue is due to a faulty ignition and shift lever, which accumulates silicate buildup that allows the key from being removed from the ignition in modes other than park, which could cause the vehicle to roll.

No injuries or deaths have been reported.

As a result, Volkswagen is replacing circuit boards and switches free of charge, with all repairs scheduled to start after Sept. 8 once all owners have been notified.
