VW is getting ready to debut the new Arteon in the U.S., a fastback that?s designed to stun.
February marks the 110th anniversary of the Chicago Auto Show, which is not only the longest running auto show in the United States, but also the largest. One of the most intriguing models that?s set to premiere is the new Volkswagen Arteon.
As the replacement for the CC, the 2019 Arteon is marketed to be a ?visually unique four-door flagship that shows the direction Volkswagen styling will take in the future,? according to VW.
While there?s still not a whole lot we know about the U.S. version, we do have a few details.
For starters, it shares the same VW Group?s MQB platform as the Golf, Tiguan, and Atlas.
Its wheelbase is 5.2 inches longer than the CC?s?resulting in 111.7 inches?ultimately increasing passenger room and comfort.
Thanks to its hatchback design, it supplies 19.8 cubic feet of trunk room with the rear seat in place. However, you can expand your cargo space by engaging the second-row seat’s 60/40 split-folding function.
In terms of performance, the only confirmed engine as of yet is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 276 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission is also equipped.
Front-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive will most likely be optional.
In addition to that, VW?s dynamic chassis control system is also said to be outfitted for a fine-tuned ride.
While Volkswagen already has the Golf hatchback on the market, the Arteon is proving to be a welcomed addition to the segment. Pair its versatile capabilities with its sleek, coupe-like look, and we predict that this vehicle will have no trouble finding homes on driveways across the country.
As Volkswagen head designer Klaus Bischoff stated, “The Arteon combines the design elements of a classic sports car with the elegance and space of a fastback. It?s an avant-garde business-class Gran Turismo that speaks to the heart and head alike.”
Following the Chicago Auto Show, which officially begins February 10 at the McCormick Place, the 2019 VW Arteon is slated to be up for sale by the middle of 2018.
