Volkswagen is Bringing You an All-Electric Car-Share Service

Volkswagen is introducing a new all-electric car sharing service, WE, to the masses.

First announced at a Berlin event this week, WE will comprise of a fleet of zero-emissions vehicles accessible using an on-demand platform.

No word on which vehicles will be included, although it is highly speculated its 375-mile range and Tesla Model 3 competitor I.D. Concept will join the fray.

In addition, the service is expected to include I.D. Cityskater and I.D. Streetmate electric scooters as a "micro-mobility solution" to offer more choices to riders for all trip types in more densely populated areas.

"We are convinced that the car sharing market still has potential," said Jürgen Stackmann, Volkswagen's sales board member. "That is why we are entering this market with a holistic single-source concept covering all mobility needs from the short journey that takes just a few minutes to the long vacation trip."

The program will debut in Germany in 2019 before expanding to cities in Europe, Asia, and North America in 2020.
