The Nissan Altima-te AWD Can Beast Through Any Snowstorm

Concept cars are a great way for a brand to show off future products, but one-off custom vehicles are the ultimate way to show off brand enthusiasm. Over the last several years, Nissan has created wintry-themed versions of the 370Z, Rogue, and Murano that swap out their conventional drivetrain with snowmobile-like tracks, and that theme continues earlier this year with the Nissan Altima-te AWD.

The Nissan Altima-te AWD was revealed at the Montreal International Auto Show in Quebec as the ultimate project vehicle to showcase the all-wheel drive version of its bread-and-butter sedan. The 2019 Nissan Altima is all-new from the ground up, and it is Nissan's first sedan to offer an additional AWD choice — a front-wheel drive version of the Altima Sedan is still available, too.

Nissan's custom Altima-te AWD was created by Motorsports In Action (MIA), which was the same shop tasked with building the Rogue Warrior. Just like that one-off Rogue, the Nissan Altima-te AWD utilizes a Dominator track system from American Track Truck. Along with the all-wheel drive system, this heavy-duty track system allows the car to go over any terrain.

Aside from obvious modifications such as the taller ride height and wider fender flares, this Nissan Altima AWD had its load-bearing chassis lowered by over an inch to help accommodate about two inches of lift for the suspension components.

"The Altima-te AWD joins the other, one-off, track-equipped crossover vehicles like the Rogue Warrior and sends a clear message to the market - this Altima has the ability to conquer the harshest weather environments with the added confidence provided by standard Nissan Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which adapts to road conditions in the blink of an eye," said Joni Paiva, president of Nissan Canada.
