Tesla Sets a World Record By Towing a Boeing 787-9 with a Model X

Tesla

Ready for a new world record from Tesla? This is probably one you wouldn’t expect.

We’ve seen SUVs and trucks towing a multitude of cargo including the space shuttle, a giant American flag and even a 100-ton train.

But all those records were set with gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicles. Tesla just set a record of its own without using an internal combustion engine.

Tesla’s Model X P100D is well-known for its amazing 713-pound-feet torque rating and 0-60 time in 3.3 seconds.

Apparently that’s enough power from its twin electric motors to tow a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. And for that, Guinness Book of World Records has award that SUV with the “heaviest tow by an electric production passenger vehicle” record.

Check out the video to witness the record-setting feat.
