Subaru Starts Production on the Ascent in Indiana

The all-new Subaru Ascent is now rolling off the Assembly Line at its Lafayette, Indiana plant.

The eight-passenger, three-row SUV will mark Subaru's largest vehicle to date, running on a 2.4-liter turbo flat-four with 260 horsepower and 277-pound-feet of torque.

Interior appointments include a 6.5-inch touchscreen and the EyeSight Driver Assist System, along with 19 cupholders and six USB ports.

"The Subaru Ascent is a great addition to our production line-up," said Tom Easterday, senior executive vice president of SIA. "Production of this outstanding new family vehicle allowed us to create hundreds of new jobs at SIA, and also at our suppliers in Indiana and across the country."

Along with its go-to-market, Ascent production at its Indiana plant represents local and regional growth, with roughly 200 jobs and $140 million in investments created over the past year, along with 2000 new associates contributing to Outback, Legacy and Impreza production during the last five years.

Other growth opportunities have extended to charity, with $8000 donated by Subaru to various non-profit animal welfare organizations in the area, including the Almost Home Humane Society and North Central Indiana Spay & Neuter.

Look for the 2019 Subaru Ascent to go on sale this summer with an MSRP starting at $32,970.
