Smuggled Cars Crushed in the Phillipines

YouTube

C’mon people, just pay the tax man!

The Philippines have caught the eyes of car lovers after government officials seized and crushed more than 20 smuggled cars recently.

The cars, which ranged from a metal-bumper C3 Corvette to a relatively new Ford Explorer, were all imported illegally into the island nation by owners who didn’t pay their taxes, and these cars were lined up and crushed by a bulldozer at the Manila port.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the vehicles destroyed, which isn’t all that surprising judging by how he treats people, and while many suggested auctioning the cars or preserving them in some manner, this publicity stunt did make global headlines.

In total, the cars were said to be worth an estimated $1.2 million USD in that country, but are now reduced to scrap metal.

In the video, we can easily see cars like a Jaguar S-Type, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Alpina B11 and Nissan 350Z. At another port location, the Philippine Bureau of Customs Facebook page shows even more vehicles being crushed including a Jeep Wrangler and new Toyota Land Cruisers.

The government has also confiscated supercars like a Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Murcielago, and McLaren 720S, which are still awaiting their fate.

Rest assured it’s not just foreign governments who go to such extremes to teach rule-breaking car lovers their lesson. In 2016, the Feds seized and unceremoniously crushed a highly desirable yet illegal 1995 Nissan Skyline. It doesn’t take long to find other similar videos out there.

If they needed some place to get rid of them, I could have provided my address!
