Ram Honors the Kentucky Derby with Limited Edition 1500

It's off to the races for the 1500—Ram has debuted its Kentucky Derby-inspired truck as homage to the timeless sporting event.

2018 marks the ninth year that the Ram truck is the "Official Truck" of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby.

And to celebrate this milestone, the brand recently unveiled a new 1500 dedicated completely to the Kentucky Derby.

What's included? We're glad you asked.

The 2019 RAM 1500 Kentucky Derby Edition is based on the Limited trim and bundles an assortment of features:

  • Choice of special exterior colors, including Granite Crystal, Delmonico Red, Max Steel, and Diamond Black Crystal; two colors (Ivory White and Patriot Blue) will ship later than the others
  • Matching body-color bumpers (a first for the Limited trim)
  • 20-inch aluminum wheels (with optional upgrade to 22-inch wheels)
  • Power running boards
  • LED headlights
  • Choice of 4x2 or 4x4 Crew Cab configuration

To polish off the look, the pickup is adorned with a Run for the Roses decal.

And that's just the exterior. In the cabin, this Ram truck features a 12-inch infotainment display with Uconnect® capability, which integrates navigation and SiriusXM® 360L. An optional 19-speaker, 900-watt Harman Kardon® premium audio system is offered as optional.

When it comes to performance, the Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby edition comes complete with a four-corner auto-leveling air suspension and trailer sway control. It's even rated to tow up to 12,750 lb when properly equipped.

There is, of course, a catch. Production takes place between April and June, and only 2,000 units will be built.

The base going rate for this special edition is $55,680, plus a $1,645 destination charge.

The Kentucky Derby takes place on May 5, and attendees will see "on-site truck displays, video board integrations, backcountry and trackside signage throughout Churchill Downs, and more." Ram commercials will be shown to those watching at home.
