Is the Lincoln Continental a Good Car and How Much Does One Cost?

Whether or not the Lincoln Continental is a good car is kind of a loaded question. Anytime you are analyzing a particular model, each model year might vary significantly. Generally, the Continental has proven to be a good car. But, that doesn't necessarily mean it's worth the money.

Let's take a look at a few recent and classic models and see which are worth the price tag. We'll start with some analysis and then move into prices at the end. We'll also compare the Continental's prices to other luxury sedans from Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.

2019 Lincoln Continental

The 2019 Lincoln Continental is a fine car, although it's probably not worth the money. It drives well, for the most part, and is extremely comfortable. The rear-seat legroom is also impeccably spacious. It gets an EPA-estimated 18 city mpg and 27 hwy mpg fuel economy. The all-wheel-drive and V6 engine pack plenty of punch for a luxury sedan.

However, in terms of value, you could certainly get more elsewhere. The interior doesn't feel cheap, necessarily, but it also isn't as luxurious or functional as competitors. For a very similar price, you could get a Cadillac CT6, which has a much better value factor.

Although, we will say, the suicide doors on the continental coach door edition are pretty fly. Unfortunately, only 80 of these were made.

2017 Lincoln Continental

If you want to pay more in-line with the Continental's quality, the 2017 Lincoln Continental is more fairly priced. It still doesn't keep up with the performance of competitors in some areas, but the price is quite attractive for a luxury sedan. That being said, it does have a few nice engine options, including a 400 horsepower V6 that really moves. Each engine has a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 30-way-adjustable front seats might seem like overkill, but it doesn't seem to have affected the price so bring it on. Depending on the trim level you choose, you'll have adaptive cruise control, moonroof and sunroof, satellite radio audio system, infotainment system, leather seats, keyless entry, cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, and LED taillights. The options are the standard Premier, upgraded Continental Reserve, Lincoln Continental Select, and Black Label trims.

1967 Lincoln Continental

If you're looking for luxury and style, the 1967 Lincoln Continental is a classic option. The Continental was pretty similar from 1966-69, but the '67 received updates that brought the luxury sedan into a more modern era, including safety features like seat belts, an energy-absorbing steering wheel, and dashboard indicators.

The styling is quite a bit different than modern Continentals, but the classic look certainly has a charm of its own. It was also the last Continental made for a long time, and the last four-door convertible made in America, which ups the 1967 Lincoln Continental's coolness by several factors.

How Much Is a Lincoln Continental?

Each of these three model years hits a different price point. The Black Label 2019 Lincoln Continental can get up to $70,000 MSRP. And, honestly, there are far better automobiles for that kind of money. Even at the minimum $46,000 MSRP, there are just better options for luxury sedans. You could, for instance, get a 2020 Cadillac CT6 for around that price range.

The 2017 Lincoln Continental is a significantly better deal. The turbocharged V6 engine is quite powerful, especially considering you are already getting a luxury car for around $30,000 MSRP. And, AWD is always a welcome feature. At this price point, the 2017 Lincoln Continental is certainly a good car. With a best-in-class value factor, even industry leaders like Mercedes-Benz and Lexus might have a hard time competing on the market with this luxury sedan.

The 1967 Lincoln Continental is also a good car, but in a different way. It certainly isn't as comfortable or reliable as more modern luxury sedans, but you can chalk that up to technological improvements. However, the style factor and class make the 1967 well-worth the money.

Since many of these classic cars were super-well maintained, the prices on them vary a lot. You might find a nice used 1967 Continental with 60-70,000 miles for anywhere between $10,000 and $40,000 depending on if its a convertible, the trim level, seller region, mint etc.

Overall, the Lincoln Continental is a good car. However, only certain models are worth the price tag. When it comes to this luxury sedan, you might be able to find more for your money, depending on the model.
