How much is a used Ford Ranger?

If you’re looking to budget, buying used is an awesome way to potentially save tens of thousands of dollars while still getting a great pickup truck. You’ll spend a bit more on gas, however, as older vehicles get less mpg due to less advanced fuel economy systems.

You can find a used 2009 model for between $3,000 and $10,000, depending on the mileage, upkeep, and trim package.

The standard trim level is the XL. Beyond the standard level, you can check out the Ford Ranger XLT, which includes a larger touch screen, improved collision-avoidance, blind-spot systems, and premium interior styling. The luxurious Lariat trim offers even further improved collision-avoidance along with some snazzy ambient lighting, premium body style, and other stylish features.

The XLT and Lariat Ford Ranger Models are also available in several configurations. You’ll be able to choose between a standard crew cab, or the extended cab Supercab and Supercrew seating options. You’ll also have interior amenity options like supercharged USB ports. There’s also an optional Fx4 off-road package, trailer tow package, and appearance package for anyone who’s looking for extra off-road capabilities, towing power, or style.

Each trim option comes standard or has options for modern necessities like adaptive cruise control, four-wheel drive, rearview camera, wi-fi hotspot, turbo, safety features, a terrain management system, and an infotainment system. All 2019 Ford Ranger trim levels and configurations have 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with 21 city mpg and 26 hwy mpg fuel economy.

Conclusion: Should You Buy the New or Used Ford Ranger?

The new Ford Ranger is objectively better than the used models. However, there are still advantages to buying a used Ford truck. For one, studies have shown that buying used is usually better for the environment than buying a new electric or hybrid vehicle like the Toyota Prius, Chevy Bolt, or Tesla. You’ll also be saving a ton of money on your purchase, which is something we can all get on board with. Ford vehicles are also among the least expensive brands to maintain used.

Overall, you’ll need to decide what is important to you as a customer and make the best option based on your wants and needs. Good luck!
