The Futuristic Hoverbike S3 Catches Crooks, Sci-Fi Style

Dubai police officers have a pretty sweet weapon in their arsenal for catching crooks.

Back in October 2018, California-based tech firm Hoversurf delivered the first set of S3 2019 hoverbikes to the Dubai police department, with each bike costing $150,000 with a $10,000 deposit. The bikes fly up to 16 feet high at a maximum speed of 60 miles per hour, and are also equipped with a 120-minute charge time and 40-minute drone mode capabilities.

What's more? No pilot's license is needed to operate the hoverbike, since it successfully meets Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

At the moment, Hoversurf is collecting feedback while police units are in the training process, with the goal of deploying a fleet into urban centers by 2020. In addition, the firm is working on a second larger two-seater and are currently scouting locations for manufacturing centers, with Dubai being one of several locations considered.

Pretty wild stuff, right?
