Hit the Corner Store in a Street Legal F1 Car, the Mercedes AMG Project ONE

The 1000-horsepower, Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is now the first-ever street legal Formula 1 car.

The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE was one of the most exciting presentations to come out of the typically subdued L.A. Auto Show in some time.

In this clip, watch a quick montage of its U.S. debut at the L.A. Auto Show with a word from Tobias Moers, chairman at Mercedes-AMG.

The F1 car is loaded with a turbocharged 1.6-liter V-6 engine and four electric motors integrated into two front wheels, turbocharger, and engine. It also clocks a 0 to 124 mph time of under 6 seconds with a top speed exceeding 217 mph. It can reach up to 11,000 RPMs using pneumatic valve springs. Full battery regeneration is also in full effect with created energy from driving, providing an extra boost.

The inside of the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE is just as spectacular, with a carbon and microfiber clad cockpit sporting an 8-speed manual.

"The Project ONE is the hottest and coolest car we have ever designed," said Gorden Wagener, Daimler's chief design officer. "It combines our design philosophy of Sensual Purity with the performance of our Formula One racing cars and is the perfect embodiment of Performance Luxury. This hypercar's extreme design marks a milestone in design ?' there are no lines, and the interior is stripped down to the essentials."
