Future Cadillac Coupe Teased in Patent Filing

Expect to see a concept based on this drawing very soon.

A set of patent drawings of a sleek Cadillac coupe recently popped up online, and they likely hint at a two-door version of the upcoming CT5 lineup.

The CT5 is expected to replace both the CTS and ATS offerings.

The front end of this car was obviously inspired by the 2016 Escala Concept with a big grille and narrow headlight elements, but the most intriguing part of this design is the rear end. The various angles show a fastback design with wide rear haunches, and there are a quartet of exhaust outlets centrally located in the rear bumper.

Before you go expecting to see such a car in Cadillac showrooms anytime soon, though, this is most likely a look at a future concept vehicle. At least that's what those camera-based sideview mirrors would indicate.

The big question is how big such a car would be. The proportions and sleek design would make a great rival to cars like the Lexus LC and BMW 8 Series, but there's probably more market for a smaller coupe to replace the ATS Coupe and go up against the BMW 4 Series and Lexus RC.
