Ford Issues Patent for Vehicle with Built-in Self-Driving Electric Motorcycle

A recently published Ford patent illustrates a car with an integrated self-driving, electric motorcycle, deployed when the engine turns off. Cue the Batman theme.

Filed in Oct. 2017, the system comprises of a self-driving, electric motorcycle integrated into the center console, with a hydraulic system releasing and retracting it.

Two versions of the patent describe two scenarios with its drive wheel lifted off of and touching the ground, providing extra propulsion.

Other features include a bike seat converted into an armrest with storage space and integrated Bluetooth and GPS-enabled infotainment system.
