Forbes Suggests 13 New Cars to Totally Avoid

Shopping for a new car? Forbes has a list of 13 cars it thinks you should steer clear of.

Many nominations on the Forbes list are notorious for reliability issues and are well-known to savvy car shoppers. Almost half of them are built by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, with the Jeep brand occupying three of those spots.

The magazine points out that a new Jeep Cherokee is expected to retain only 33% of its value after five years.

Nissan and Ford get dinged twice, Chevy once and, surprisingly, Acura and Infiniti show up once each. J.D. Power's below-average initial quality rating put the Acura RLX on the naughty list and the Infiniti Q50 took a big hit for its low expected resell value (just 32% after five years) as well as an unrefined power-train and uncomfortable seats.

Here's the full list, in alphabetical order:

Acura RLX

Cadillac ATS

Chrysler 200

Chevrolet Suburban

Chevrolet

Dodge Journey

Ford Fiesta

Ford Focus

Ford

Dodge Dart

Infiniti Q50

Infiniti

Jeep Cherokee

Jeep Compass

Jeep

Jeep Patriot

Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan

There's always a way to slant a vehicle's features to make it seem better than it is, or use its performance against it to allude to problems. In any case, at least we have one major publication's opinion on the matter. Take it for what you will.
