Environmental sustainability is the driving force for many vehicle manufacturers.
This is due in part to stricter air pollution standards set by government regulations. Along with the tighter laws, many buyers want vehicles that promote better efficiency and produce fewer emissions.
The Frankfurt Motor Show is a culmination of vehicle manufacturers? efforts towards making greener cars. Here are a few models showcased at this event.
The luxury manufacturer unveiled its compact electric vehicle concept, the EQA. The EQA delivers versatile experiences thanks to the different driving modes offered. Powering these driving modes are one electric motor located on the rear axle and one positioned on the front axle.
The EQA concept car achieves a system output of 200 kW. Additionally, the car has a range of up to 400 kilometers (248 miles), depending on the type of battery installed.
Speaking of the battery, charging can happen as quickly as 10 minutes via a rapid charging station. There?s also the capability of charging the car through induction or wall box. Overall, the sleek design, agile performance, and exceptional range show the manufacturer is on the right track.
BMW i Vision Dynamics electric concept car
BMW is another manufacturer placing heavy emphasis on developing electric vehicles in hopes of toppling brands like Tesla. To this end, BMW revealed its four-door electric car concept called the i Vision Dynamics.
This car has the performance potential to compete well with Tesla’s models. BMW stated its new concept car has the potential range of 373 miles?which is far more than the Mercedes-Benz EQA concept?and has the power to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in four seconds. That?s an impressive feat that shows the manufacturer is placing as much emphasis on performance as it is sustainability.
?Electro mobility has reached the heart of our brand,? remarked BMW board member Klaus Frolich. ?We are prepared to strike.?
His words echo the attitude many manufacturers have adopted concerning the growth of the electric car segment. And from what we?ve seen from the Frankfurt Motor Show, their efforts are going to produce some amazing vehicles in the future.
