2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Shows Its Angry Face

As part of a massive information dump announcing new models and new technology, Ford gave us yet another teaser look at its all-new 2020 Shelby GT500.

While investors were probably most interested in high-volume models like the new Explorer and Bronco, automotive enthusiasts were likely focused on one bit of info: a lone teaser shot of the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500. Ford confirmed the existence of the GT500 back in January promising the most powerful street-legal Mustang ever.

The dark image gives a very clear look at how mean this new GT500 will be. An oversized grille and massive side intakes give this Mustang an Audi R8-like face. Interestingly, it appears that the GT500 will use different headlights than the recently facelifted 2018 Mustang.

We can also see that the front end is much wider, which suggests that this car will be fitted with some wide, sticky tires.

For now, Ford is still keeping plenty of secrets about the GT500, but we do know that this monster will debut next year with an output of more than 700 horsepower. With that output, this car should be aimed squarely at rivals like the 650-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
