Expect better handling and a smoother ride with the all-new Toyota TRD Pro trucks.
Toyota just unveiled its new TRD Pro Series lineup featuring updated trimmings to its Tundra, 4Runner, and Tacoma models. The off-road-ready wing from the international car brand was revamped for its 2019 models including adding Fox shocks and other equipment designed by the engineers at Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
Toyota turned heads in 2014 when it initially unveiled the series, which is an ode to its racing and off-roading roots. Now, with the help of a growing interest in not only the brand, but the lifestyle, Toyota is debuting its 2019 models this coming fall.
Here?s a quick rundown of some of the updates and add-ons:
For 2019, the complete Toyota TRD Pro lineup features 2.5-inch TRD Pro-exclusive Fox Internal Bypass shocks. That?s a mouthful, but since suspension is probably the most important component of any off-road vehicle, it?ll pay off.
The aluminum-bodied shocks are set to make everything from slow-speed rock crawling to high-speed dessert running a cinch. The multiple bypass zones offer a plush cushiony ride to the TRD Pro rides, doing away with the traditional external bypass tubes that fine-tune damping pressure.
The Tacoma TRD Pro?s shocks are paired with tuned springs that boost the lift another inch, which make can make a huge difference. Also added to the Tacoma is an updated front skid plate and a Black Chrome TRD exhaust.
The offset 16-inch alloy wheels offer up a 1-inch wider track both front and rear, adding more stability to the ride, and projector-beam headlights and LED fog lights lead the way.
The always-attractive 4Runner gets a little bit of refreshment when it comes to its trail abilities. The 2.5-inch front shocks include seven bypass zones (four compressions, three rebound), and the rear 2.5-inch Fox shocks features 11 (count ?em 11!) bypass zones for low- and high-speed compression.
For kayaking enthusiasts, the 4Runner boasts a new roof rack, and the Nitto Terra Grappler P265/70R17 A/T tires give it a more all-terrain edge when the opportunity arises.
Apart from falling in line with its TRD compatriots with new 2.5-inch Fox shocks, the 2019 Tundra also includes a dual TRD Pro exhaust, fitted with new Black Chrome tips, and new 18-inch BBS forged-aluminum, five-spoke wheels meant to handle cornering response better. There?s even a moonroof option for when you want to look at the stars during a camping trip.
