The 2019 Chevrolet Volt gets a huge boost in charging time, basically cutting it down in half.
A Chevy Volt already gets about 53-mile all-electric driving range–the most out of any plug-in hybrid in the U.S. market, making it a great day-to-day, A-to-B commuter electric driving vehicle. Now, GM is touting upgrades for the brand new 2019 Chevrolet Volt model including a recharging time that gets people back on the road in half the time as usual.
Slick System Upgrades
The 2018 model year can get a full empty to full charge in under five hours, making it a great option for commuters who plug it in at night while they sleep. But according to kbb.com the 2019 Chevrolet Volt (when hooked up to a 240v level kw charger) can charge in just under two and a half hours. This is giving Chevrolet’s pure EV Bolt a run for its money with its charging abilities. The Volt, however, doesn’t offer up the same optional CCS-format DC that the Chevy Bolt has in terms of faster charging sessions, which gives it about 90 miles of range in 30 minutes of kw charging.
Another notable upgrade for the 2019 Chevrolet Volt is its level of regenerative braking, which provides better deceleration from the steering-wheel paddle. Also, the Volt’s touchscreen infotainment system is getting a touch up and includes a new Energy app to help monitor how well the hybrid motor is doing and a digital rearview camera.
The Volt also comes with a power driver’s seat in its Volt Premier models and optional on the Volt LT. Its adaptive cruise control now offers up conventional cruise control if the driver wants it to work. Other notable features include a revamped pedestrian-alert system and a tire-fill system that notifies the driver by horn when the tires are refilled. Interior color options include jet black and pacific blue metallic and drivers can also opt for a dealer-installed blackout package.
