Here's Everything You Need to Know About the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Debut

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler makes its first appearance, in the flesh, at the L.A. Auto Show.

Though there wasn't a surprise ending like the reimagined Roadster from Elon Musk's recent press announcement with Tesla, the much-anticipated 2018 Jeep Wrangler finally showed its face to the world at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 29, 2017.

The SUV sees its first redesign in a decade, and the big piece of news is that a full electric Jeep Wrangler will be available in 2020.

Settle in, grab some popcorn if you want, and watch the video from the live event in L.A.

Said to stay true to its off-road, military-based roots, the new Wrangler is nonetheless packed with modern features, like a rearview camera and more aerodynamic, fold-down front windshield, which was reportedly something purists absolutely had to have.

The Wrangler will be made at Fiat Chrysler's plant in Toledo, Ohio, a move that could help the vehicle retain its position amongst the top made-in-America vehicles.

The longer, flatter hood style is a step away from the previous versions, but this new Wrangler will have a powered hard top option, the "Sky Power Top," something that caught the attention of enthusiasts earlier in the fall when the rumor mill started. It can be engaged at 60 mph, no problem.

Every Wrangler is trail-rated, and when the two- and four-door Rubicons were revealed, we learned the engineering that went into the new model. There are four engine choices, the last two of which aren't available until 2019: 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder; a 3.6L Pentastar V6; 3.0L Ecodiesel V6; and a 6-speed manual transmission.

But we're intrigued by that all-electric version promised in a couple years...

It should be interesting to see how well these do on the market once they become available. Now that you've seen it, is it something you'd buy?
