WFTV

A fishy situation occurred involving two trucks colliding on a Florida highway, sending hundreds of live tilapia fish destined for New York to their early grave.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, two semi-trucks were barreling eastbound on a center lane at 5 a.m near Orlando, when it slammed into another truck’s rear, sending live fish flopping across the highway.

As a result, two road lanes had to be closed for cleanup crews to sort out the mess. Here’s some footage from WFTV Channel 9:

In turn, the truck driver, Mayel Perez, was cited for careless driving while the other went to the hospital for minor injuries.

“It created kind of a slimy, slick situation,” said Florida Highway Patrol Sargeant Kim Montes.
