The Chevrolet Bolt EV is All-Electric, and America is All-In

With 238 miles of range and a starting price of $36,620, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is an American-made electric vehicle with plenty of reasons to love it.

The Tesla Model 3 is definitely getting the lion’s share of the attention right now when it comes to affordable electric vehicles, but the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is about to make its presence felt.

While this zero-emission hatchback has been on sale since December 2016 amassing close to 13,000 sales, it was only offered in limited markets: Originally just California and Oregon but later New York, Massachusetts and Virginia.

In September, the Chevrolet Bolt became available nationwide.

Soon after its debut, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt was named the 2017 North American Car of the Year and has since racked up 40 other prestigious awards. On top of that, its abundance of standard and optional safety features as well as extensive use high-strength steel has resulted in this car receiving a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

This five-passenger subcompact hatchback uses a 60-kWh battery pack to power the electric motor rated at 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The official EPA driving range is listed at 238 miles, but like all EVs, driving style greatly affects that number, and some outlets have seen a range beyond the EPA’s figure.

When it comes to charging, a standard 240-volt home charger will take nine hours for the Bolt to receive a full charge, but using a DC Fast Charge, the car can add 90 miles of range in 30 minutes. The battery and propulsion system are covered by an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

If you’re looking to drive a cutting-edge, American-made electric vehicle, then the new 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is the way to go.

And you can own one now instead of the 12-18 month wait that Tesla Model 3 buyers are currently experiencing.
