Tesla Unveils Latest Model Y Teaser Image

At this month’s 2018 annual shareholder meeting, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled a new teaser image for the Model Y, its first all-electric crossover.

From the image of the Model Y, very little is revealed other than a bulky design, with tons of shadows and what appears to be an absurdly large grille. What we’re really wanting to dig in on is will Tesla turn a corner with this new model and change the narrative on the company’s woes?

Not much has been revealed regarding the Model Y, other than it will make its debut in March 2019 with an early 2020 production date. Many have speculated it will cost roughly $45,000 as a mid-tier option between the Model 3 and the Model S, equipped with vertically-opening falcon wing doors, a separate platform than the Model 3, and the possibility it will not include a steering wheel.

“Model Y will not have any leather in it, even in the steering wheel, even if it does have a steering wheel,” said Musk.

Other items discussed during the annual shareholder meeting include a vote to keep Musk as chairman, alongside three board members, as well as Model 3 production updates, with a goal of 5,000 units produced per week by the end of June.
