Want a piece of Richard Petty folklore?

NASCAR racing legend Richard "The King" Petty is auctioning off an impressive collection of memorabilia and racing cars at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on May 12.

Managed by Julien's Auctions, auction items up for grabs include racing suits, an autographed leather racing jacket, trading cards, and trophies.

Several historic cars are also on the block, such as Petty's 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix, his final championship-winning 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and a limited edition 820-horsepower, 2017 Ford Tribute Mustang.

According to Petty, these items are excess pieces that do not fit in his Level Cross, North Carolina museum that his kids agreed to part with.

"As Babe Ruth and Muhammad Ali were giants in their arenas, Richard Petty is one of the most significant sports figures of our time who elevated the world of motorsports to greatness," said Darren Julien, president of Julien's Auctions. "He is a national treasure, and Julien's Auctions is honored to offer this winners circle of iconic items that represents The King's legendary career, life, and love of racing."

Richard Petty is one of the most iconic racing legends of all time. Among his accomplishments include 200 racing victories, seven-time winner of the Daytona 500 and the NASCAR national championship series', recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (a first for a racing athlete), and a stint on the business side as the owner of Richard Petty Motorsports.
