Ferrari Testing a Silent Hybrid 488 at Fiorano

In the clip below, watch a Ferrari 488 accelerate to full speed in complete silence at the Fiorano racetrack.

No specifications are yet known, in what is a first glimpse at the legendary marque's electrified vehicle testing.

Before 2018, Ferrari head Sergio Marchionne was famously skeptical in March 2016 comments to Geneva Motor Show reporters calling hybrid technology an "obscene concept" and remarking "you'll have to shoot me first."

More recently, Marchionne had a change of heart, proclaiming all Ferraris would incorporate hybrid technology past 2019, with no plans to bring one to market before 2022 in a company-wide mandate to double profits.

Other luxury automakers, such as Porsche, Aston Martin, and Bentley, have also invested in hybrid or all-electric options with the all-electric Mission E, a hybrid Rapide, and the Bentayga hybrid SUV hybrid to go into production next year.
