3 New Concept Cars We Want to Drive Sooner Rather Than Later

Concept cars are annoying, right?

Every single year at every single major motoring show, manufacturers show off amazing, radically-designed concept cars to create publicity for the company.

Nine times out of ten, these cars never make it into production, and car enthusiasts all over the world join together and cry profusely.

Many automakers use concept cars to show off new styling cues that will (kind of) trickle down to their actual production models. Here are three of the latest concept cars that we want to drive right now.

3. National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) 9-3

National Electric Vehicle Sweden (I know, what a mouthful) bought out the assets of Saab Automobile from Spyker in 2012. They aim to create an electric car to "shape mobility for a more sustainable future." While this angers Saab enthusiasts such as myself, it is interesting to see where the company is heading.

Earlier this year, NEVS released concepts of their latest iteration of the 9-3, which is based on the Saab 9-3 but with an electric drivetrain and tweaked styling.

It is believed to be only sold in China and Sweden, at least initially. It will be interesting to hear the technical specs for this car; it could be a potential rival to the Tesla Model 3. Time will tell.

2. McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo

The McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo is the latest concept car from British automobile outfit McLaren. It was designed to be featured in the upcoming racing game Gran Turismo 7.

The car is said to have the same twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 as the 720s, which will power the rear wheels. Additionally, a pair of electric motors power the front wheels. This makes for a combined 1,134 horsepower and 940 pound-feet torque.

The "UVGT" is thought to be a more extreme version of the P1's replacement, similar to how the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo was an extreme version of what came to be the Chiron. In any case, the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo (again, what a mouthful!) is an epic looking thing, and we can only hope to see it on the road, in some form or another.

1. Aston Martin Valkyrie

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is set to be Aston's first hypercar since the stillborn Bulldog. It will have a 6.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 developed by Cosworth and an electric KERS system, which gives the Valkyrie a combined 1,130 horsepower, with around 1,000 of that coming from the engine.

The sum of the value of all of your unnecessary organs isn't enough to purchase a Valkyrie, unfortunately, as the starting price is around $3.2 million. It is also rumored that you have to buy a Lagonda Taraf to buy a Valkyrie. I suppose you can kiss your 401K goodbye.
