3 New Cars That Showcase Promising Automotive Technology

In this high-tech world, automotive technology is advancing at a rapid pace. Here are just a few that we are looking forward to.

Whether it is for safety, convenience or entertainment, automotive technology is changing the way we drive and how we look at cars, and here are three examples of just that.

While these technologies are fairly new right now, it will be interesting to see how they trickle down to mainstream applications in the future.

2018 Cadillac CT6

Cadillac’s big flagship sedan is giving the automotive world another step toward fully autonomous vehicles with the introduction of Super Cruise.

As the name suggests, it is essentially a high-tech cruise control, and unlike other systems out there right now, Super Cruise allows for hands-free driving.

For safety, this automotive technology uses a camera mounted in the rim of the steering wheel to ensure that the driver is paying attention to the road, but other than that, the CT6 can drive all by itself on the highway.

2016 BMW 7 Series

The 2016 BMW 7 Series introduced a nifty automotive technology called Gesture Control, which is aimed at reducing driver distractions.

Using a simple hand motion, the driver can adjust the radio volume, answer or reject phone calls, and change the view of the backup camera.

It might seem silly for such a technology to be helpful, but it does a really good job of helping the driver keep his or her eyes on the road. This technology is already trickling down to lower BMW models like the new 2018 BMW 5 Series.

2017 Ford GT

When talking about new technologies, we can’t forget about what the future looks like for enthusiasts. Gear heads often think that performance is measured in displacement and cylinder count, but the 2017 Ford GT is proof that a legendary supercar can make do with less than eight cylinders.

In this car’s case, a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 is used to create 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque, and if such a V-6 can produce this much power today, just imagine what future engines will be capable of.
